Rahmanlij
At the Southern scurts of the
high Srednogorski summits, Slivovo Gradishte, Samodivetz and
Bratan, the pictersque valey of Rahmanlij stretches from West
to East, separated by a ridge into two parts. On this same
ridge the little village of Rahmanlij is situated right along
the old road to the valey of Kazhanluk. The highest place
on this ridge three ancient hills that represent a beautiful
view over the valley, the plains of Plovdiv and the Rodopes.
In 1851 an old man called Stoyan
was ploughing his corn field near the scirts of a big hill;
the wooden plough hitched a stone that cover a little hole
in the ground. The old man looked insede and saw that something
blazed from time to time when there was light from the sun
pouring through the hole.
When the digging operations
begun a lot of valuable items varying from golden vases and
finery.
But this hill-tomb is not the
only one in the valley of Rahmanlij. There more than 30 other
tombs found there, and every single one of them posses treasure
worth millions.
